What We Believe

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We are part of the greater Christian Church Disciples of Christ denomination. Our roots began when Barton Stone and Thomas Campbell in Kentucky began a restoration movement. The pioneers of this movement were seeking to reform the church from within and sought "the unification of all Christians in a single body patterned after the church of the New Testament."  Having failed that, it finally became an official denomination in 1962. Our congregation is the oldest continually organized church in Little Rock, founded when an evangelist came from Kentucky came to preach Gods Word in 1832 to a frontier town.

As a group of believers, we:

  • Believe in the Bible
  • Adhere to the New Testament as the model for Christian faith, practice, and fellowship.
  • Observe weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper and welcome all to observe with us.
  • Baptize all who confess that Jesus is the Christ and Son of God, but accept other forms of baptism of those previously baptized to their own satisfaction.
  • Embrace Bible study and discussion with others on their faith journey
  • Honor our faith by believing and living in “Unity, not Uniformity”.
  • Sharing in our faith and giving.
